1 )Download Mapsource, which is part of Garmin's Trip and Waypoint Manager program ([Only Registered and Activated users can see Content.

    ).

2 )Install any updates as prompted when you open Mapsource or the Trip and Waypoints Manager.

    3) Insert the cable into the GPS and into the serial port or serial USB converter on the computer.

4 )Click "Transfer," followed by "Receive From Device." Click on your device from the box that appears.

    5) Select the data you would like to back up by clicking on the box beside the item.

    6) Click "Receive."

    7) Click "File" then "Save."

If your GPS has an SD card and your computer has an SD card reader, you can back up the data in the GPS by clicking on "User Data," then "Data Transfer" then "Card." The data will be saved to the SD card, which can be removed from the GPS and inserted into a computer for backup.

    I hope this will work

if you need a back up from the system files, then just copy the internal disk files to your computer

To back up your GPS you can simply copy all the files on it to your PC. There is one VERY IMPORTANT thing you need to do first however. The most important files on the GPS are hidden, so you will need to go to Folder Options in Windows and select the View tab. From the View Tab select to Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives and also uncheck Hide protected operating system files (recommended). You should then be able to see the .system folder and be able to back it up.
